Ocean 3 & 4

Location - La Jolla Shores Beach
The main lot has 4 rows of parking. Park in the second row from the beach. We will gear up at our cars and walk out as a group to the beach.

OW3 Overview
Prerequisites: Completion of all lecture sessions and Open Water Dives #1 and #2

OW3 will contain a review of all previously practiced underwater skills with the addition of emergency air sharing. After skills practice, students will be guided on an underwater tour to a depth of approximately 35 feet.

Plan depth: 35 ft
Plan dive time: 20 min
Objectives: Practice beach entry skills and basic dive skills such as regulator purge, regulator retrieval (various techniques), mask clearing, emergency air sharing, bouyancy control, and proper ascent control with a safety stop at 15ft. .

OW4 Overview
Prerequisites: Completion of OW3 and completion of proper surface interval (SI)

Open Water Dive #4 will give students an opportunity to put all their learned skills to the test as well as get a better glimpse of what diving La Jolla Shores has to offer. La Jolla shores is home to an extensive underwater canyon system. Students will be guided to the canyon edge (a depth of approximately 60ft). Along the canyon wall live various kinds of fish, lobster, various species of crab, octopi, sea slugs, and much more.

Plan dive time: 30 min
